Under the supervision of Park GIS Specialist, the majority of your time will be providing GIS support to Kennecott Historic Landmark within Wrangell St. Elias National Park & Preserve.  You will provide GIS assistance supporting the Resource, Administration, Interpretation, Ranger and Maintenance Divisions.  Since Kennecott is isolated from our main Park HQ you will be required to address GIS and other issues independently.  You will need to assist employees accessing the web mapping application, datasets and ensure that information technology problems are addressed.  Additional projects may consist of: ·         Support Park web mapping application·         Assist in collection efforts involving GPS equipment.  This may include mapping cultural artifacts, finding infrastructure features like underground pipes and collecting building footprints·         Create a 3d environment of the Historic Landmark, integrating LIDAR with imagery and other products·         Integrate old cultural datasets into current cultural GIS datasets·         Expand on vegetation, bear, human interaction study for Donoho basin·         Integrate existing data on human impacts, collect addition data as needed*Please note, this position is NOT eligible for an AmeriCorps education award.
