You will assist a forester and other natural resource specialists in a wide variety of projects that may include: preparing forest resource inventories, stand prescription development, forest regeneration surveys, timber stand improvement projects, timber cruising, analysis of hazardous trees, timber sales and public relations. You will develop and present interpretive programs, survey aquatic plants, conduct water quality and prairie restoration work. In addition, you will provide safety related programs, perform minor site maintenance and basic administrative duties. You may also participate in recreational and water safety programs (as needed). Natural resource staff and rangers will mentor you through all aspects of your duties. Work-sites are primarily accessed via flat bottom motorboat. EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: You will have the opportunity to visit the many area attractions including the Upper Mississippi River National Fish and Wildlife Refuge, Great River Road, State Bike trail, and state and federal parks. There are also numerous festivals to attend: Riverfest, Sand on the Riverfront, Deke Slayton Airfest, and Great River Folk Fest.
