Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the US.
The position is composed of field work, lab sample processing, and data entry. You will collect freshwater fish and invertebrates using minnow traps, throw traps, and some electrofishing is possible via boat, air-boat, and helicopter; conduct field identification of small fishes and invertebrates; identify to species and enumerate vegetation; measure habitat variables; assist with monitoring of exotic apple snail populations; conduct dissections on non-native fish for reproductive/diet study; participate in laboratory processing of samples, data entry into spreadsheets and some analysis and graphical presentation of data after field collection. EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: Opportunities to attend local meetings or presentations, assist other researchers working within Everglades National Park, and visit additional areas of the park.
