FIREMON SCA Resource (FSCAR)
The SCA has developed an ESRI ArcPad application that allows users to collect FIREMON data in the field using a PDA application. This application uses a process of data "check in" and data "check out" to move data from the handheld PDA device to a FIREMON database. The tool allows users to save time in the data entry process, decreases data entry errors, and allows for seemless conversion of your data from the field to the master database.
FSCAR has the following requirements:
- ArcGIS Desktop 8.X or higher
- ArcPad 6.0.3 or higher
- Microsoft Active Sync (click here to download)
- A GPS enabled PDA running Windows Mobile 5 or higher

NRCS Plant Codes
The files below were created by querying the NRCS plant code database to generate a list of plants known to be rooted in a given state. The files available for download are .XML files that can be imported directly into your FIREMON database. This eliminates the need to build your local species list using J-FIREMON. The step-by-step process for installing and using the plant species codes is also available by clicking here. More plant list are coming soon!
State Plant Lists (current as of May, 2006)
*The unknown plant list includes 10 plants codes for each lifeform: tree, shrub, forb, grass. The plant codes follow a pre-defined pattern (i.e. UNKTR01 - Unknown Tree one) (UNKSH, UNKFO, UNKGR and then the two digit number)
Customized Applet Files
The SCA FIREMON teams utilize customized applets (FSCAT) to collect data in the field. The following files contain these customized applets. These files were created based on the needs of the individual agencies SCA works with in the field. Customization of applet files is only available to sites hosting a SCA FIREMON data collection crew. The specifics of each custom applet can be found by downloading the file and viewing the read-me document.

SCA Data Management
The management, storage, and back-ups of FIREMON data is a critical part of the SCA FIREMON project. Data back-ups are completed regularly and all data is delivered to the agency in an organized format. To aid in this management of data SCA has created a file tree structure to place FIREMON data, photos and other documents into. The file tree ensures consistency among all SCA teams and allows for more streamlined troubleshooting. SCA FIREMON Project Leaders should download and utilize the file tree provided below.
