Environmental Education Intern

Cradle of Forestry in America, Pisgah National Forest, 14 miles outside Brevard, NC on US Highway 276; about an hour southwest of Asheville, NC.

Facilitate environmental education activities for pre-K-12 students and general visitors, indoors and outdoors; lead classes and general visitors on historic wheelchair-accessible trails as interpreter of trail stories and as a guide to observing the surrounding forest and the dynamics happening within it; provide assistance to plan, promote and implement special interpretive events at the Cradle of Forestry in America, including International Migratory Bird Day, Bug Day, and Firefly Twilight Tour; work with anotherĀ intern to create, planĀ and lead Woodsy Owl's Curiosity Club programs for young children, including creating a craft; work on projects contributing to new group activities and/or public programs; prepare and post materials such as flyers to promote site's programs.

Required Skills: 
US citizenship; ability and willingness to undergo a required criminal history background check; willingness, ability and desire to work with children in an outdoor setting; education and past experience in environmental & biological sciences
