Monticello, Utah sits at 7,000 feet near the base of the Abajo Mountains where recreational activities abound. Canyonlands National Park, Natural Bridges National Monument, Hovenweep National Monument, Mesa Verde National Park and Monument Valley are all with 1-2 hours drive. Great sight-seeing, hiking, biking and rafting are just a few of the activities to be enjoyed.

Teach elementary students the science of Utah's canyon county in a natural setting. You will assist the education specialist in implementing curriculum-based programs for elementary students. You will instruct at a variety of locations in Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, on surrounding public lands and at local schools. You will also have the opportunity to rove busy park trails and interact with junior rangers at the park visitor center. In addition, interns may work with other divisions on an as-needed basis. This internship is a cooperative venture between the National Park Service division of education and interpretation. Required: US citizenship; valid driver`s license; ability and willingness to undergo a required criminal history background check; ability to work well with children; good physical condition. Desired: First aid/CPR; academic background in natural or cultural history, education, or related fields.
