Education Program Intern

Categories:

The Anchorage Interagency Visitor Center is located in historic Downtown Anchorage and acts as a nexus for information about recreational activities in southcentral Alaska.

The interns will be key contributors to the development and implementation of the Alaska Public Lands Exploration (APLE) Program for first-time campers. This program is designed to provide Anchorage youth an opportunity to investigate, interact with, and develop an appreciation for the public lands within the state through multiple educational outdoor learning experiences. The interns will mentor the participants in learning the necessary content and skills over a period of two weeks. The interns will accompany the participants on several field trips during the weekdays and an overnight camping trip to a nearby park or public land. Upon return from the field, interns will help students capture their unique experiences via creative blogs, podcasts, or other media. It is expected that there will be three two-week sessions.  Other intern duties will include planning, marketing, preparing instructional materials for the participants before the trip, managing logistics, and preparing evaluation tools for the experience (for themselves and the participants).
