SCA Washington, DC, Earth Day Project


When: Saturday, April 21st from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Where: Anacostia Park at the DC Urban Tree House (beside the Skating Pavilion)
What:
  • Lend a hand in improving and revitalizing your public lands
  • Meet SCA board members, alumni, members, partners and staff
  • Projects include: Planting native vegetation and trees, maintenance of existing trees and shrubs, removing overgrown vegetation from sea wall and other improvements to the natural habitat in the park.
  • Wear boots and long pants and bring a water bottle.
  • Gloves, tools, lunch, t-shirts and prizes will be provided
  • Participate in National & Global Youth Service Day
  • This is part of Take Pride in America and Green DC Week
  • All are invited

Directions to the D.C. Urban Tree House & Anacostia Park


The Urban Tree House garden and Gazebo is located next to the Aquatic Education Center to the left of the Skating Pavilion.

From 295 South: Follow Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue signs to the Anacostia Park Exit. At Stop Sign, make right turn onto Good Hope Road. Proceed to nest Stop Sign and make right turn onto Anacostia Drive. Drive 1.3 miles to the Pavilion.

From 295 North: Take 295 North to Exit 3A (Suitland Parkway/US Naval Station Exit). At the Stop Sign make a left turn onto Firth Stirling Avenue. Take Firth Stirling to the second Stop Light and make a left turn onto Howard Road (Anacostia Metro on the right). The Park entrance is on the right just after the US Naval Sign. At the next Stop Sign, turn right onto Anacostia Drive. The Pavilion is 1.8 miles on the right.

From the Capitol Building & Downtown:
Take Pennsylvania Avenue East across the Sousa Bridge and under 295 take the first right hand turn onto Fairlawn Avenue (just before the Mobil Gas Station). Drive one block to the Stop Sign and turn right onto 22nd Street, SE. Take 22nd St. into the Park and turn right onto Anacostia Drive. The Pavilion is approximately 0.4 miles on right.
