Walmart Foundation

The Walmart Foundation is proud to support the charitable causes that are important to customers and associates in their own neighborhoods. The SCA and Walmart partnership provides opportunities for thousands of teens in cities across the country to participate in conservation projects, learn about environmental and community stewardship and gain green career skills. In 2009, more than 100 diverse teens served on new SCA programs in Chicago and Philadelphia, caring for city parks. In 2010, the Foundation continued its support to strengthen and grow SCA’s community programs and provided funding for SCA to launch the Sustainability Intern Initiative. This pilot program deploys SCA college-age interns in Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia where they assist municipalities and nonprofits achieve their sustainability and climate change remediation goals. Sustainability interns complete hands-on service, education and public outreach projects while gaining on-the-ground conservation and green jobs training and experience.
