The Mazda Foundation is dedicated to building a better future through support of imaginative programs that make a difference in communities across the United States. The foundation helps enhance youth literacy, expand diversity in education, preserve and enrich the environment at state and national parks, and supports medical research. Since 1997, the Mazda Foundation has proudly sponsored the SCA, annually underwriting the placement of conservation interns in national parks and forests in all 50 states. In 2008, Mazda sponsored the SCA/Mazda Conservation in Action Multimedia Contest to discover the next big idea in conservation. Students across the nation between the ages of 15 and 25 were encouraged to submit multimedia ideas, program ideas and dynamic concepts. The winner received a new, high mileage, low emission Mazda3, plus cash prizes and an expense-paid trip to EarthVision, the SCA's youth in conservation summit in Washington, D.C.
