After graduating Luther College with a degree in Environmental Geology and Music, I took my scattered motivation to the road in search of wild and remote places in America’s backcountry.  I’ve spent the last 8 years bouncing from one non-profit to another in search of conservation projects to quench my thirst for adventure.  Seasonal work is the name of the game in the conservation world and it has taken me to work locations in 16 different states and countless forests and parks along the way in some of the most awe-inspiring places imaginable.  In 2010 I thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and walked another 1,000 miles on the Continental Divide in 2013. These journeys were life changing on both occasions and have given me a sense of calm and mindfulness that earned me the trail name “Max Chill”.  The wild open spaces of Idaho are my home now and it seems like the list of places to explore never gets smaller.
