Milwaukee Community Program - Fall 2012

Milwaukee, WI

We're very excited to start our year-round program and build off the great momentum from this past summer!

The program will run for 12 weeks and include 15 crew members and 3 crew leaders. Each crew will meet for 8 hours per week to focus on leadership and job skills development and complete service projects each Saturday.  We're excited to be working with many of our partners from this past summer, while also building new partnerships:

Milwaukee County Parks

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center

Hunger Task Force Farm & Fish Hatchery

Alice's Garden

Urban Ecology Center

Thanks to all our partners and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for making this year-round program possible!

Alice's Garden - Milwaukee

This summer, 55 youth and 10 crew leaders spent 6 weeks exploring, creating and learning in outdoor spaces all over Milwaukee. Each of the 6 crews worked hard to finish different projects ranging from urban farming and gardening, to trail building and invasive species removal.  Members experienced a wide-range of hands-on conservation projects and environmental education opportunities, thanks to our community partners:

Milwaukee County Parks

Hunger Task Force Farm & Fish Hatchery

Hawthorn Glen

Alice’s Garden

Neighborhood House Nature Center

Urban Ecology Center

Sweetwater Organics

Thanks to everyone who helped make this summer a huge success, including Johnson Controls Inc. who hosted our annual Green Jobs Day at their headquarters in Glendale. We’re looking forward to next summer!

If you are interested being part of the Milwaukee team, recruitment for Crew Leaders begins in February for our summer 2013 program.
