FAQs

What other clubs support SCA?
When SCA was founded nearly 50 years ago, initial supporters included a number of garden clubs. Today, over 300 membership organizations include SCA in their annual philanthropic planning. These include:
  • 240 chapters of the Garden Club of America
  • Cycling Clubs
  • Hiking Clubs
  • Walking & Riding Clubs
  • High School Environment Clubs
  • College Ecology Clubs
  • Community Clubs
How are our missions in alignment?
SCA’s mission is in alignment with many organizations whose members share similar purposes with SCA: stimulating love of the land through education programs; restoring, protecting or recreating safely and mindfully in natural areas; creating networks of like-minded service oriented individuals; and/or educating young people as they become leaders in our communities.
How will SCA use our gift?
Your club’s gift to SCA will provide support for SCA field programs and help to instill a strong conservation ethic in its young participants. Your gift will support the work they do to learn how to protect and preserve valued national and state parks, forests and urban green spaces, and private lands with public access. Our partners, such as the National Park Service, require SCA to raise funds from the public to pay for a portion of the cost of our volunteer programs. These agreements require SCA to raise approximately 23 percent of the cost.
How do we sponsor an SCA volunteer?
Through our sponsorship program, your club will receive a letter from the member that your club’s gift helped to support. Your group can become a Sponsor by making a gift each year of $250 or more. Depending on your level of support, you will receive a letter either from the leader of a high school crew or from at least one volunteer. In most cases the volunteer receives a stamped envelope with your club’s name and address. Your club’s member then writes you directly to describe the experience! If, however, you choose to make your gift anonymous, SCA will forward the volunteer’s letter to you.
