Under the supervision of Park IT Specialist, you will provide network, technology, end users support and general administrative support to the staff in Kennecott and HQ. Late in the season you will help support overall IT projects, including web development, vb scripting, and new hardware project installation. EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: On your own time, there are an amazing amount of things to do in the local area, numerous day hikes to mountain peaks, hiking on glaciers, ice climbing, river rafting, flight seeing, overnight camping, and multiday wilderness backpacking trips. In the community, many events happen throughout the summer including open mike nights, community dances, arts and lecture series, community movie nights, community baseball games, theatrical presentations, and small music festivals. Remember McCarthy and Kennecott is remote and you do not need a vehicle to support your work but many find one helpful to explore the rest of Alaska. There are many options from posting ride notices at the local post office to booking reservations on many local area shuttles. The only limits are your own budget and creativity.*Please note, this position is NOT eligible for an AmeriCorps education award.
