Blue Ridge range of east TN and western NC. Steep densely vegetated terrain is laced with streams and trails. Elevation ranges from < 900'->6600'. Classified as temperate rainforest the annual rainfall varies from 60 to 80+ inches depending on elevation. Three national forests and the eastern band of Cherokee nation surround the park. Border towns cater to the Park's 9+ million visitors, making the Smokies the most visited park in the nation.

Assist with revegetation and restoration projects, 10%; control and monitor non-native plant species, 40%; monitor and manage forest insect and disease conditions, 50%. Assist with Vegetation Management Crew in daily activities; control of up to 20 Species of non-native invasive plants in Park; use Systemic and Foliar application of insecticides to control Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA); provide long term monitoring of HWA.
