The park is made up of the Civil War battlefield sites in the James River watershed just outside of Richmond, Virginia. Aside from a few developed areas, park lands are comprised of coastal plain habitats such as upland forest, streamside forest, wetland and managed meadow. Richmond is a vibrant city with several universities and a wealth of restaurants, culture, shopping and nightlife.
Interns will work in the Resource Management Division of the park on a variety of projects: Monitor and Manage invasive exotic vegetation, 50%; manage and monitor earthwork vegetation, 20%; inventory water quality, 5%; animal monitoring 15%; and GIS/GPS work, 10%.
