Backcountry Office Intern
The Lamar River District is located in the Northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park. Incumbent will be based out of the Tower Backcountry Office located near Tower Junction.
You will help operate the ranger station, provide visitor information and assistance, issue fishing and backcountry permits (60%), assist with frontcountry patrol operations, wildlife jams and emergencies, care and feeding of subdistrict livestock, and participate in area and parkwide training (30%); you will also perform resource management and assist with backcountry patrol and trail clearing (10%). EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: You will have opportunities to explore Yellowstone; learn about park backcountry operations, resource and wildlife management programs, and wildlife traffic jams (bears, elk, bison).
