ARAMARK-a leader in food services, facilitates management, and uniform and career apparel - and the Student Conservation Association have teamed up to offer a Sustainability Internship at the University of Virginia Dining, managed by ARAMARK. The Sustainability Intern will serve as a key resource in supporting and advancing ARAMARK’s commitment to Sustainaiblity at University of Virginia.The intern will gain hands on operational experience, focused on a project with specific outcomes. Topics may include energy and/or water conservation, supply chain (i.e. local/sustainable purchasing), waste management, health and wellness and community involvement. Projects may be strictly operational or include elements of education and marketing to support effective implementation.Specific Responsibilities to Include: research and assist in implementing programs that are central to increasing waste diversion rates, as it relates to organics and recycling; Identifying areas of opportunity, as it concerns locally sourced food and products; assist in developing plan aimed at increasing participation in reusable to-go container program;  develop information materials that increase sustainability awareness. This position is full-time (40 hrs/week). This position is not eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award.
