ARAMARK-a leader in food services, facilitates management, and uniform and career apparel - and the Student Conservation Association have teamed up to offer a Sustainability Internship at the College of Charleston Dining, managed by ARAMARK. The Sustainability Intern will serve as a key resource in supporting and advancing ARAMARK’s commitment to Sustainaiblity at the College of Charleston. The intern will gain hands on operational experience, focused on a project with specific outcomes. Topics may include energy and/or water conservation, supply chain (i.e. local/sustainable purchasing), waste management, health and wellness and community involvement. Projects may be strictly operational or include elements of education and marketing to support effective implementation. Specific Responsibilities to Include: assist the Sr. Food Service Director with the implementation of ARAMARK’s food donation program supporting a local agency in Charleston, SC; develop a “Low Impact Event Program” for College of Charleston Catering; implement tracking system for local purchasing; market and communicate sustainability initiatives to the College of Charleston campus community (i.e. sustainability wall, website, complete internal sustainability assessment, etc). This is a part-time (20 hrs/week) internship. This position is not eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award.
