This year's Conservation Commencement address at SCA's national headquarters in Charlestown, NH was delivered by environmental hero and former U.S. Forest Service Supervisor Gloria Flora. She gave all SCA members who participated in a program in 2008 a conservation charge: "You are the new leaders, coming into your own to replace those confused or missing in action. Rick was born in Philadelphia; later his family moved to the Piedmont region of North Carolina. He has a B.A. in English Lit (and it shows). He was awarded a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship in Austria, and on his return, cultivated a passion for the outdoors, community and environmental awareness. He joined SCA through the Mass Parks AmeriCorps program and is now working on a documentary film.
