Summer Employment Opportunities Working with Youth in DC Area National Parks

Are you interested in leading a group of high school students completing hands-on conservation projects in one of the National Parks throughout the DC area?

The Student Conservation Association is currently accepting applications for Crew Leader positions for our 2006 DC Conservation Crew Program located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.


Crew Leader Duties:
Supervise, motivate and lead a team of six high school youth, age 15-18 for six week (Mon-Fri. 8hrs/day) summer program; complete an assortment of hands-on conservation and restoration projects in Capital Region National Parks; plan and lead weekly educational field trips and end of program four day camping trip.

Qualifications: 21yrs or older; valid driver’s license for 3+ years and clean driving record; current Wilderness First Aid and Adult CPR certifications or ability to obtain; outdoor skills; experience working with ethnically diverse youth; ability to maintain safe, productive and enjoyable work environment; strong interest in working with and mentoring youth.

Dates of Service:

Program Dates: June 19th – July 28th
Crew Leader Training*: May 18th-May 26th or June 1st-10th
*Optional Pre-training Wilderness First Aid course offered the day before each training.

Salary: $2,700
