SCA Participates in NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo

On January 12 and 13, 2007, SCA took part in the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo. The Expo gave residents of the DC area an opportunity for free health screenings, new exercise options, and Green organizations. More than 80, 000 people attended the Expo, where people attended demonstrations from healthy cooking to belly dancing, blood pressure screenings to an indoor golf simulator.

SCA is not the first group you would think of that would be at the Expo. However, getting exercise by participating in outdoor activities is becoming more popular. The Expo was an opportunity for SCA to introduce people to our volunteer opportunities and how to get involved. DC Staff and alumni talked to nearly 1000 people. One alumnus, Jeff Crawford, shared with visitors his internship impression of his work with SCA, “My internship with SCA in Yellowstone is the best job I’ve ever had. It was like a three month vacation.”

SCA continues to lead the way in building the next generation of conservation leaders. At the Expo, we were part of the Green Pavilion, where members of SCA spoke with reporter Wendy Rieger from NBC4’s “Going Green” program.
