High School Program Manager, Washington, DC

SCA, the nation’s leading conservation service organization for young people has an exciting opportunity in our High School Program.  We are seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Program Manager in our Washington DC office starting in October.
Position Description:  The Program Manager position is focused on high school program operations in the Washington DC metropolitan area, planning and implementing the components of SCA year round high school programming, summer crews, and support of national high school programs in the mid-Atlantic region.  The Program Manager is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, placement and evaluation of DC-based crew leaders, full  time staff and interns; working with agency partners to implement and retain SCA crew programs in the Capital region; supporting crews in the field; administratively supporting programs; and setting up service events in the region throughout the year.  The Program Manager also supports national program activity and assists the High School Program staff, as needed. This position is full time with a fall start date.   

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Education/Youth Development or related field,
  • familiarity with the DC metropolitan area preferred,
  • 3-5 years of program management experience working with Youth, Outdoor Education or Service programs,
  • experience with hiring and supervising staff,
  • ability to travel and a demonstrated ability to work independently.   
  • Proficiency or fluency in a second language is highly desirable.  
  • Excellent communication skills needed
  • Valid driver’s license and MVR that meets SCA standards required
  • Ability to meet SCA’s criminal background check standards
