Graduating Seniors

Annie Fehrenbach - I have been working with the SCA since the summer of 2003. I am a senior this year, and am planning on attending a four-year university in the fall.

I am currently deciding between University of Oregon, University of California – Santa Cruz, and Humboldt State University in Arcata. My choices are all reflections of passions I have come to embrace while growing up in Seattle: writing, music, rugby, and of course, environmental studies. To me the school does not only need to have a strong environmental program, but also must be eco-conscious. The SCA has helped shape the way I have viewed colleges that I might attend, because I have learned that the only real way to make a change for the better is to be pro-active. Therefore, my schools of choice all provide opportunities to go out and better the community and the natural environment – something I plan to take full advantage of.

Chris Ford - SCA has helped me complete my service learning hours as well as taught me useful skills. I have been involved in the CLC for two years. SCA has enabled me to do something for the environment and for the community. I am excited to be graduating this spring and hope to continue to be involved in the community.

Noel Sherrard - Noel is currently taking classes through Running Start at Seattle Central Community College. He has been accepted into Bard College, and is also toying with the idea of deferring for a year to continue classes at SCCC. Noel went on two Mt. Rainier summer crews, and has been an active member of the CLC this year, being one of our first Apprentice Crew Leaders with the first-year Chum Crew

Aisha Pasha - I first became involved with the SCA my freshmen year when was looking for ways to knock out the 60 hours of community service required for graduation. This year I have been active in the CLC program as an Apprentice Crew Leader. Next year I plan to attend either Brown University, the University of Southern California, or the University of Washington. Wherever I end up, I know that my involvement with the SCA has helped to prepare me for any challenge that I might take on the future. Aside from learning about the necessity of preserving the environment and my own responsibility to help protect it, through SCA I’ve also learned real life skills, such as how to be both an effective leader and team member. In college I intend to major in linguistics and minor in environmental studies or science, since three years of conservation work have built a lifelong commitment to the preservation of the natural world.
