This year, SCA will mark its 50th anniversary.
A lot has happened since 1957 when our first volunteers arrived at Grand Teton and Olympic National Parks.
SCA has become a relied-upon conservation force that partners with every major land management agency in the country. We’ve engaged nearly 50,000 young people in conservation service, many of whom remain active stewards of our land.
And while SCA still builds trails, our capacity has expanded to encompass habitat restoration, invasive species eradication, sustainable community training, and many other critically needed services.
Anniversaries are inherently about the past but SCA has always been about the future, and we intend to use our 50th year as a moment to address these and other issues through an action-oriented vision for our next five decades.
We will continue to provide intensive individual conservation experiences to thousands of high school, college and graduate students each year, but we will also expand our reach to involve, to influence and to ignite a commitment to conservation among many more young people.
Please join us as we “Celebrate 50 Years of Students Conserving America.” I invite you to help us seize this moment to ensure a healthier planet for all that call it home now and for generations to come.
