Earth Day - By the Numbers

On April 22nd 2006, over 80 SCA Volunteers converged on Frick Park to complete a service project in partnership with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. The event was sponsored by American Eagle Outfitters and the NiSource Environmental Challenge Fund.Home Depot, Whole Foods, The East End Food Coop, Einstein Brothers’ Bagels, Giant Eagle, Target, and REI, Inc. supported the project with donations and volunteers.

 

What We Accomplished:

  • 324 Hours of Service

  • 127 Native Trees and Shrubs Planted

  • 15 Deer Exclosures Constructed

  • 50 Tree Tubes Used

  • 30 Bags of Garlic Mustard Removed

  • 65 Honeysuckle Bushes Removed

What We Consumed:

  • 110 Bagels

  • 2 Gallons of Juice

  • 20 Gallons of Water

What Was Donated:

  • $285.92 worth of food

  • $25 worth of supplies

What We Wore:

  • 75 SCA Earth Day T-Shirts

  • 20 PA Cyber School Earth Day T-Shirts

  • 10 REI Volunteer T-Shirts
