Check the status of my application?
Login to your account here. (http://rm.thesca.org/candidate/default.cfm) When your application is complete, you will see (Complete) next to "Update My Application" under the Main Menu tab. If your application is incomplete, you will see "My Application" and the next step of your application. For example, if you not added references yet, it will say "References" instead of "complete".

Edit my profile?
You will only be able to make changes when your application is considered completed (you have clicked the submit button on the signature page and we've received one completed reference). Once your application is complete, you can edit your profile by logging in and clicking "Update My Profile". If you need to make changes to your contact information or availability dates before your application is complete, you may email these changes to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Change the program category I am applying for?
The applications for different programs vary, so you cannot switch program categories after you start an application. If you have an application for one program and would like to apply for another (such as a former Crew member now applying for an Internship), you must start a new application using a different email address and login than the ones associated with your previous application.

Pay the application fee?
There is a one time application fee of $25 ($40 for non-US citizens). This fee allows you to apply for an unlimited number of opportunities. You may pay the fee by credit card online or you can send a check or money order to: SCA Center for Conservation Service 689 River Road, PO Box 550 Charlestown, NH 03603

Get a paper application?
If you do not have access to a PC with IE 6.0 or higher, you may email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to request either a paper application or a pdf application by email attachment. Be sure to include the address you would like it sent to and the program you are applying for.

Know which positions to apply for?
You can start by reviewing our Opportunities pages for an overview of the types of internships offered. Our searchable database provides detailed descriptions of positions including basic requirements.

Add positions to my application?
You can search for positions using the online database. (http://www.thesca.org/internships_search/) Read the entire position description to determine if you meet the position requirements and available dates. If you would like to be considered for the internship, add the position by clicking the link at the bottom of the description. There is no limit to the number of positions you may apply to, but please only add positions that you would seriously consider if offered to you.

Save positions before applying?
You do not need to complete an application before saving positions. If you have found a position that interests you, you can save the position by starting an application profile. Each position also has a 4 digit id number located in the upper right corner of the position description that can be used in the keyword search to find positions quickly.

Contact SCA staff or Site Coordinators?
For general Admissions questions, you can contact the Admissions Department at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or 603-543-1700 ext 499.
All of our Recruiters and Placement Representatives are part of the Admissions Team and can be reached the same way.
SCA and our agency partners ask that you not contact site coordinators until after your application has been sent to them, when contact information will be provided to you. Until that time, contacting coordinators is not a good use of their time or yours as they do not have your application to refer to.

Know when and where my application has or will be sent?
We begin reviewing applications after the suggested deadline (click here to see Deadline Chart). If your application is sent, you will receive an email letting you know where it has been sent. The email will usually contain contact information for the site coordinator.
As long as your application is complete and you have 4 active positions attached, we will send it to at least one of the positions in which you are interested.

Resolve error messages that pop up in my application?
Make sure that you are using a PC with IE 6.0 or higher. Our current system only works consistently with this browser. You might also try deleting your temporary internet files and cookies (located under Tools - Internet Options). If you continue to experience problems, please email our webmaster with a copy of the error message at:

Delete positions from my application?
Positions cannot be deleted from your application. If you no longer wish to be considered for a position, please notify us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with the 4 digit id code and we will remove you from consideration. If you do not wish to view all the positions on your application, you can use the sort feature to only view relevant positions.

Get academic credit?
Many interns receive academic credit through the college or institution in which they are currently enrolled by making arrangements through their academic advisor. For interns not currently enrolled in a program, there is an option to earn up to 12 graded-undergraduate credits from Colorado State University's Department of Natural Resources, Recreation, and Tourism. Once selected for a position, interns receive more information on this program.
