Project Leader - Native Plant. Grand Canyon AZ Print
grca-ad.jpgSCA is seeking an experienced leader to work with the Vegetation Program at Grand Canyon National Park. You'll be restoring native habitat on the South Rim along the historic Hermit Road. You will learn high elevation desert restoration techniques and be given the opportunity to teach other volunteers your skills. 

Daily activities include planting native plants over an eight mile project area, collecting seed, mulching, monitoring and recording planting data, performing nursery maintenance, and some invasive plant removal. The work will be completed in varying and often challenging environmental conditions. Weather during the project duration will range from hot and dry to cold, wet, and snowy. Elevation on the South Rim is approximately 7000 feet. 
 
Dates:  July 21—December 23.     

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum age requirement 21 years old
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experienced
  • Minimum of 320 hours of field leadership experience
  • Background in botany, restoration or related fields
  • Working knowledge of Geo-spatial data collection and GIS
  • Strong computer and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record within SCA guidelines
  • Ability to pass SCA background check
  • 4WD and/or trailer experience
  • Operating power equipment including tractors, jackhammers and small engines

 
Salary: Ranges between $26,000-$28,000/year (prorated) with seasonal benefits.
