Crew Leaders - Stamford, CT

Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of youth while working outdoors this summer?  The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is currently accepting applications for Commuting Crew Leader positions in Stamford, CT for our 2009 Program. 

Crew Leader Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a crew of ten high school youth, ages 15-18, during the summer of 2009.  Crew Leaders will train and lead youth to complete much needed conservation service projects in Stamford city and Fairfield county community parks. Leaders will work as a team to plan and lead weekly field trips to build an understanding and ethic of community and environmental stewardship with youth participants. Prior to field programming leaders will receive nationally recognized youth leadership, program, and conservation skills training. 

Qualifications:
Experience teaching or working with youth; ability to maintain safe, productive, and enjoyable work environment; strong interest in working with and mentoring youth; outdoor skills; 21yrs or older; valid driver’s license for 3+ years and clean driving record; current Basic First Aid and Adult CPR certifications or ability to obtain.

June 29-August 7

Housing is available at limited sites for out of town staff.  

Applicants must be able to attend one of three training sessions scheduled to be held in late spring at various locations throughout the country.

*SCA pays for all travel expenses related to training. Food and lodging is also provided. 
 Additional professional development courses including Wilderness First Aid are offered prior to training.
