SCA Board at Work on Mount Rainier

Board at RainierRecently, more than 30 SCA board members including Founding President Elizabeth Cushman Titus Putnam, several senior staff, and others donned hard hats and hand tools and bussed in from Seattle to join the ongoing Mount Rainier Recovery project.
The group replaced a portion of the Wonderland Trail washed away by flooding and brushed hundreds of feet of a surviving stretch. Their day on the mountain made a significant contribution to the restoration effort and, perhaps more important, also made a valuable statement.

"As a board, we wanted to join with the many others who are helping in this critical recovery effort," said Chairman Fred Prescott.  "The outpouring of support for Mount Rainier over the last several months has been tremendously heartwarming, and we wanted to salute all those who have responded to this situation by lending our hands as well."

The SCA contingent also received a project status report from Park Superintendent Dave Uberuaga and toured the SCA volunteer base camp at Longmire.
