Relevant for All

iantha_gant_wright_web.jpgThere are several doors into SCA’s EarthVision conservation summit, but none more important than the one marked “Diversity.”

As one recent survey indicates, although the U.S. population is becoming more diverse, visitors to our national park do not reflect that diversity. And as the country becomes more urbanized, the connections we all have to wilderness become more tenuous. Ensuring the outdoors is relevant for people of all colors, cultures and backgrounds is critical if we, as a society, are going to value and protect our environment.

Iantha Gantt-Wright of The Kenian Group, a speaker in the “Reflecting Nature’s Diversity” track at EarthVision, talks about the need to find our true “why” for diversifying the environmental community in this video clip.

“I’m counting on you,” she says. “And I think a lot of other people are, too.”

The Early Bird registration discount for EarthVision ends on March 1. Don’t miss out – sign up today and make your voice heard and your environmental views count as the 2008 national election approaches!

Earth Vision 2008
written by Heather Kranz , February 21, 2008
Hey! I am an alumni of SCA and I am very interested in attending the EArth Vision Summit. I can afford the registration fee but unfortunately, I dont have the money to make it to DC. Is there any assistance programs that SCA can offer to help people get to the Summit? I would love to go and have a lot of ideas to share. I also would love to help with the service projects..... Let me know! Thanks.
