2007 Crew Season Kicks Off

SCA crewSCA's High School Crew season kicked off this year on June 14 with over 40 crews entering the field.  This summer SCA will provide a conservation service experience to 1,100 members.

The breakdown:

  • 106 National Crews consisting of 209 leaders and 661 members
  • 53 Commuting Crews consisting of 65 leaders and 467 members
  • North Cascades Wild consisting of 3 leaders and 36 members
  • 59,148 total person days (compared to 50,500 in 2006)
  • Approximately 465,000 hours of service

Types of Work:teamwork

  • Erosion control: water bars, check dams, retaining walls, drainage/culvert installation
  • Brushing, clearing and vegetation removal
  • Construction: rock and wood steps, bridges, crib walls, boardwalk and other trail structures
  • Restoration: storm damage, fire and ORV use

Locations:

  • 37 states, DC and the Virgin Islands
  • Back country
  • Front country
  • Urban
